Why It’s Necessary
BETTER STUDENT PERFORMANCE
Research shows that high quality afterschool programs can lead to increased Attendance, Behavior and improved Coursework. This means that students participating in a high quality afterschool program went to school more, behaved better, received better grades and did better on tests. These ABCs are critical factors to student engagement and achievement.

WOMEN HIRE MORE WOMEN
Studies found films with at least one woman director had substantially higher percentages of women working as writers, editors, cinematographers, and composers. On films with at least one woman director, women comprised 53 percent of writers, 39 percent of editors, 19 percent of cinematographers, and 18 percent of composers.
REPRESENTATION MATTERS
Diverse teams bring a wider range of experiences, perspectives, and ideas to the table. This can lead to more creative and authentic stories. When the people making content reflect the diversity of the world, the content is more likely to do the same. This is important because when people see themselves represented on screen, they feel seen and understood.

Where It Is
Onsite at Partner Schools:
We believe this is key for accessibility. We understand that in order to have an impact within the community we are trying to reach it is key that we make it easy for the students to easily have access to the program. By housing the in class workshops at students school the program becomes an easy extension of the school day.
Site Visits:
Students will visit production facilities and learn about the creation process. They will have the opportunity meet the professional makers of the content the view regularly. This will give them an greater understanding of what’s needed to create high quality content on all mediums.
